Ghaziabad, March 19: The Wave City police team has successfully apprehended a wanted criminal following an encounter. The suspect was shot in the leg during the confrontation and has since been hospitalized. Authorities recovered a stolen motorcycle, an illegal firearm, and two cartridges from his possession.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Priyashree Pal reported that a robbery occurred on March 4 near DME Road, close to a high-tech college in the Wave City area. The assailants had used a firearm to steal a Nexon car and a mobile phone. Upon receiving information about the incident, a case was registered, and an investigation commenced immediately. On March 7, police arrested two suspects, Raj and Darshan, successfully solving the case.
However, two other wanted criminals, Lav and Yogendra, remained at large, prompting the formation of a dedicated team for their capture. Through intelligence sources, police obtained detailed information about Lav, including his photograph and address. Acting on a tip-off, the Wave City police initiated checks at multiple locations on Wednesday night.
During this operation, a suspicious individual was spotted riding a motorcycle on the road leading to Dasna. When the police signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee down a rough path. His motorcycle skidded and fell, and as police approached, he opened fire. In self-defense, the police returned fire, injuring the suspect in the leg.
ACP Pal stated that during interrogation, Lav confessed to the robbery of the Nexon car and other crimes in Dasna. He already has several cases registered against him. The injured criminal has been admitted to the hospital, and further legal action is underway.
