Mumbai, March 19: The upcoming film “KD: The Devil” is embroiled in controversy over its item number “Sar Ke Chunar Teri Sar Ke.” This issue has escalated from social media to the Parliament. The Hindi version of the song has been removed from all social media platforms. In response, the National Women’s Commission (NWC) has taken cognizance of the matter and ordered action under the National Policy for Women and Child Development Act, 1990, citing allegations of obscenity and indecency.
The NWC announced that it would take action against individuals associated with the song and the film on social media platform X. The commission stated that, prima facie, the song’s content appears sexually provocative and objectionable, violating provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act, and the POCSO Act. The commission has taken this matter seriously and has summoned actress Nora Fatehi, lyricist Rakib Alam, actor Sanjay Dutt, producer Venkat K. Narayan (of KVN Group), and the director to appear before it.
All summoned individuals are required to present themselves along with relevant documents on March 24 at 12:30 PM. Failure to comply may result in appropriate legal action.
The song “Sar Ke Chunar Teri Sar Ke” is facing criticism due to its explicit lyrics. In response to the trolling, Nora stated that she was unaware of the Hindi version being so inappropriate, as the song was originally shot in Kannada. She had no prior knowledge of the Hindi version.
Nora also clarified that she would not be promoting the song. Earlier, in Parliament, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized that such songs would not be tolerated in the name of artistic expression and confirmed that the song had already been banned.
