Beijing, March 24: In recent days, German enterprises have been notably active in China. They participated in a high-level Chinese development forum and engaged with various government institutions, including the Ministry of Commerce. Their focus is on expanding their presence in key sectors to capitalize on the early years of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan.
Stefan Hartung, Chairman of the Bosch Group, shared with China Media Group that over the past decade, Bosch has invested a total of 60 billion yuan in China. “We are expanding our investments in critical sectors,” he stated. In January, the company launched a project for a production center dedicated to light electric drive systems.
Production at this new factory is expected to commence in 2027. Last November, Bosch announced a 10 billion yuan investment in Suzhou, eastern China, over the next five years. The company plans to focus on smart driving and smart cabin technologies in the coming years. “China is a creative market and a hub for research and development,” Hartung added.
Meanwhile, Markus Kammerer, Chairman of BASF Group, told CMG that BASF has a history of over 140 years in China. “We have always considered China as a central player in global asset allocation and development. This week holds special significance for us,” he remarked. The BASF Changchun integrated center will commence full production, marking a new chapter in BASF’s development in China.
According to a recent report by the China-Germany Chamber of Commerce, 93% of German enterprises in China plan to remain in the Chinese market. More than half of these companies indicated they would increase their investments in China over the next two years.
