New Delhi, June 28: BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh has reacted to Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi‘s comments on the Gaza issue and her daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee’s claims regarding former President Pranab Mukherjee. Vallabh emphasized that India’s foreign policy is determined not by political theatrics or appeasement, but by the national interests of 1.4 billion Indians.
Vallabh stated that India’s foreign policy is not based on political posturing or appeasement. It operates on the principle of “strategic engagement with every stakeholder,” aiming solely to protect the interests of India and its citizens. Over the past 12 years, India’s foreign policy has demonstrated clarity and firmness. For the first time, the world witnessed India assert that “blood and water cannot flow together,” and any incidents of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in India would be regarded as an “act of war,” warranting a corresponding response.
The BJP leader claimed that India’s position on global platforms is stronger than ever. Prime Minister Modi has been given prominent roles in major international forums, including the G-7, reflecting the strength of the country’s foreign policy. When several ships were halted in the Strait of Hormuz, Indian-flagged vessels were granted safe passage, showcasing India’s growing global reputation and influence. Prime Minister Modi has received top civilian honors from over 30 countries. Additionally, free trade agreements (FTAs) with the European Union, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, Oman, and others exemplify India’s effective foreign policy.
Vallabh also responded to Sharmistha Mukherjee’s claim that her father, Pranab Mukherjee, considered Narendra Modi India’s first directly elected Prime Minister. He acknowledged Pranab Mukherjee’s invaluable contributions to the Congress Party and questioned why the party remains silent on this matter. Vallabh urged Congress to clarify whether it believes Pranab Mukherjee supported the BJP or the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He pointed out that anyone in Congress who speaks the truth is sidelined.
Attacking Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Vallabh noted that while Gandhi often questions Modi’s leadership, Sharmistha Mukherjee, the daughter of a senior Congress leader, acknowledges that the public elected Modi. He stressed that respect for the people’s decision is essential in a democracy. Vallabh questioned whether Rahul Gandhi’s personal comments about the Prime Minister indirectly challenge the public’s choice. He highlighted that while Gandhi speaks of the Constitution, he fails to show respect for a democratically elected Prime Minister. This attitude has led Congress to lose three consecutive Lok Sabha elections, and if it continues, the party may face defeat in the next 30 elections as well.
