G. Parameshwara Accepts Deputy CM Role, Acknowledges Chief Minister Aspirations

Bengaluru, June 3: G. Parameshwara, who took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister in Karnataka under the leadership of D.K. Shivakumar, has openly acknowledged his desire to become Chief Minister. However, he has fully accepted the decision made by the party high command.

Parameshwara stated that it is true he aspired to be Chief Minister. Nevertheless, as a disciplined Congress worker, he respects the decisions made by the party leadership. He believes it is his responsibility to honor whatever decision the high command takes, a principle he has always upheld.

He emphasized that he does not view the Deputy Chief Minister position as a demotion but rather as a new opportunity to serve the public. He considers it an honor to have the chance to serve people, regardless of the position. With this mindset, he is committed to fulfilling his responsibilities as Deputy Chief Minister.

Addressing allegations of neglecting specific communities in leadership selection, Parameshwara dismissed these claims. He noted that the Congress party periodically provides leadership opportunities to various leaders. This time, the party has chosen D.K. Shivakumar, and he congratulated him on this achievement.

When questioned about the allocation of ministries, Parameshwara stated that this decision is the prerogative of the party leadership and the Chief Minister. Currently, he is unaware of which department he will be assigned. If given the Home Ministry, he will continue to manage it; if assigned another department, he will work diligently there as well.

He expressed gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Randeep Singh Surjewala, K.C. Venugopal, and other senior party leaders. Parameshwara remarked that the party has entrusted him with significant responsibilities during this crucial phase of his political career.

He highlighted that as Deputy Chief Minister, he will have the opportunity to work for the people of Karnataka in alignment with the Congress ideology and electoral promises.
