Former JD(U) Leader KC Tyagi Joins RLD in New Delhi Ceremony

New Delhi, March 22: KC Tyagi, a senior leader of the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)], has officially joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) after parting ways with his former party. This transition follows Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s election to the Rajya Sabha.

On Sunday, Tyagi was welcomed into the RLD by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary in New Delhi. The event saw both leaders sharing the stage, marking a significant moment for the party.

Jayant Chaudhary took to social media platform ‘X’ to express his enthusiasm, stating, “We warmly welcome and congratulate senior and experienced leader KC Tyagi and former Uttar Pradesh minister Ashok Yadav to the Rashtriya Lok Dal family.”

He added that it was a privilege to formally welcome them at a prestigious event held at Mavalankar Hall in Delhi. Chaudhary emphasized that Tyagi’s joining would strengthen the RLD and infuse new energy into their commitment to public service.

Following Nitish Kumar’s victory in the Rajya Sabha elections, his path to the upper house has been cleared. Meanwhile, Tyagi, distancing himself from Kumar, chose not to renew his JD(U) membership after the party’s membership campaign concluded.

For context, the JD(U) was formed on October 30, 2003, from the merger of the Samata Party and the Janata Dal, with George Fernandes as its president and KC Tyagi serving as general secretary. Tyagi has worked closely with Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar over the years, holding various roles, including chief general secretary, spokesperson, and political advisor. He has been regarded as one of the senior leaders and a close associate of Nitish Kumar.
