Bhopal, May 22: Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, has urged the state government to provide certified soybean seeds to farmers. In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Singh emphasized the need to ensure the availability of quality certified soybean seeds for farmers in the state. He also called for a halt on the export and transportation of seeds to other states and requested an investigation into alleged irregularities within the seed certification agency.
In his letter, Singh referenced an email from Kedar Sirohi, a former member of the Agricultural Advisory Council of Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted that the lack of timely access to certified seeds at fair prices could adversely affect agricultural production and the economic conditions of farmers.
Singh pointed out that Madhya Pradesh is a leading state in soybean production in the country. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure sufficient availability of certified seeds to protect farmers’ interests. He insisted that any irregularities in the seed certification process should be investigated fairly, followed by appropriate actions.
He urged the Chief Minister to take immediate action on this serious issue concerning the welfare of farmers.
