Mumbai, August 10: Continuous rainfall in Madhya Pradesh has disrupted daily life. Since Sunday night, several areas in Rajgarh district have experienced severe flooding. Many towns and cities in the district are now submerged.
On Monday night, a family traveling in an Eco car was en route from Satwas in Dewas district to Kadlawad in Sarangpur block. During their journey, rainwater accumulated on a bridge along the bypass. The driver, unfamiliar with the area, misjudged the water depth and the bridge’s condition. As the car entered the water, it became unbalanced and was swept away. Out of the 11 people in the car, two managed to escape, while nine others, including four children, remain missing.
Local residents reported that water had pooled on the bridge. Despite attempts by bystanders to warn the driver against proceeding, he ignored their advice and drove into the hazardous conditions. The Eco car was quickly carried away by the swift current. Rescue teams, police, and administrative personnel are currently on-site, making every effort to locate the missing individuals.
After the incident was reported, officials, including the SDM and local police, arrived at the scene. The rescue team has commenced operations, utilizing cranes to search for the submerged vehicle and the missing persons. A large crowd of villagers has gathered at the site. At the time of the incident, the car contained 11 occupants: three men, four women, and four children. The search for the vehicle and the missing individuals is ongoing.
Due to the heavy rainfall and flooding, authorities have closed all schools in Bhopal and several other districts.
