Fire Contained at UAE Petroleum Facility Following Drone Attack

Dubai, March 17: A fire that erupted at a petroleum facility in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been successfully contained following a drone attack.

Authorities reported that the fire broke out in the oil industry zone, but there were no injuries reported. Local civil defense teams responded promptly and managed to control the blaze.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the Fujairah Media Office stated that the area has been targeted three times in recent days.

The Fujairah oil industry zone serves as a strategic hub for refueling ships and is a crucial terminal for the UAE’s crude oil exports. Located outside the Strait of Hormuz, it plays a significant role in global oil supply.

Officials have urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and to avoid spreading rumors. They assured that the situation is being closely monitored and that necessary measures are being taken to ensure public safety.

The UAE and other Gulf nations are facing missile and drone attacks linked to regional tensions arising from ongoing military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Meanwhile, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud discussed regional developments over the phone on Monday. Their conversation included the escalating military actions and their implications for regional and global security.

As reported by the Emirates News Agency, both leaders emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate military tensions, warning that such conflicts pose a threat to the stability and security of the region. They also highlighted the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving regional issues and maintaining peace and security.

Since the joint attacks by the U.S. and Israel on Iran on February 28, Gulf countries have faced waves of missile and drone assaults. The UAE has intercepted over 1,500 drones to date.
