Father of Anti-Drug Activist Raises Alarm Over CDR Leak in Punjab
Bhim Singh demands action over leaked call records of his son, anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta, highlighting broader issues in Punjab.

Jalandhar, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The recent leak of call detail records (CDR) related to anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta has ignited controversy in Punjab. Bhim Singh, Jhotta’s father, has raised serious concerns about police and administrative accountability, calling for an investigation and legal action against those involved.
During a press conference in Jalandhar, Punjab Congress President Parghat Singh praised Bhim Singh’s resilience, stating that the fight has transcended Parvinder Singh Jhotta and now represents the voice of all of Punjab. He emphasized the profound pain of losing a son and commended Bhim Singh for his courage in speaking out.
Parghat Singh noted that some individuals attempted to frame the issue as a Hindu-Sikh conflict. However, Bhim Singh has advocated for unity and brotherhood, a stance that Singh lauded.
In a media interaction in Mansa, Bhim Singh alleged that the CDR leak exposes ongoing misconduct within police and administrative circles. He accused a man named Makhan of being a police informant and claimed that journalist Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal is being threatened.
Bhim Singh expressed support for Dhaliwal, describing him as a well-educated young man from a poor background. He remarked on the sacrifices Dhaliwal’s father made to ensure his son received an education and reached this point in his career.
Additionally, Bhim Singh leveled serious allegations against DSP Gill, stating that the officer should have arrived at the scene within minutes of being informed. Instead, he accused the authorities of intimidating journalists and educated youths from underprivileged families.
Bhim Singh vowed to escalate the matter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He is demanding an investigation into the involved officials, the filing of a formal complaint, and the arrest and dismissal of the DSP. He also called for a probe into the DSP’s assets.
