Fatal Collision Between SUV and Motorcycle in Kolkata Leaves One Dead
A tragic accident in Kolkata results in one death and another serious injury after a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle.
Kolkata, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Early Saturday morning, a tragic accident occurred at the Anandpur crossing in Kolkata, where an SUV collided head-on with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving another seriously injured.
The incident took place around 4:30 AM at the busy intersection of Choubaga Road and Anandpur Road. The motorcycle rider, identified as 30-year-old Pratyush Panai, was declared dead upon arrival at NRS Medical College and Hospital. The passenger, 27-year-old Prasun Kumar, sustained severe injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. Prasun, a student at the Meghnath Saha Institute, is originally from Gandhinagar in Jharkhand.
According to police, preliminary investigations suggest that neither of the motorcycle riders was wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Authorities suspect that both individuals may have been under the influence, as they were reportedly intoxicated during the accident.
The SUV driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, taking advantage of the darkness. Police have seized both the SUV and the damaged motorcycle and are working to identify the driver using the vehicle’s registration number and ownership records.
CCTV footage from cameras around the Anandpur crossing is being reviewed to reconstruct the events leading up to the accident and clarify how the crash occurred.
