Kolhapur, February 23: The family of Ashwini Bidre, a female police officer, has taken a significant step in her case. They allege that despite ten years passing since her murder, justice remains elusive. The family has appealed to President Droupadi Murmu and Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud for euthanasia. They claim that even after the court proved the murder, the administration has not issued an official death certificate. Furthermore, they assert that they have been denied benefits entitled to them during her service.
Raju Gore, the husband of the deceased officer, expressed his frustration in an interview with a news agency. He stated that it has been a year since the verdict in Ashwini Bidre’s murder case, yet they still have not received her death certificate. He emphasized that they should have been provided with this document by the Navi Mumbai police. He added that the Maharashtra government has failed to grant them the benefits due after her death. Additionally, he mentioned that the funds in their bank locker should have been accessible to them, but they have not been able to retrieve them.
Gore further alleged that no department of the Maharashtra government has listened to their pleas. Consequently, they submitted a petition to the Chief Justice and the President, requesting approval for their euthanasia application.
This case has become a glaring example of corruption, abuse of power, and investigative shortcomings within the Maharashtra police. Ashwini Bidre is remembered as a dedicated and honest officer, and her death has sent shockwaves throughout the state.
