Punjab BJP Launches Statewide Marches Against Drugs Ahead of Elections

Chandigarh, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to address the drug crisis in the state by launching four statewide marches starting Friday. This initiative aims to highlight the pressing issue of drug abuse in Punjab, especially in light of the upcoming 2027 assembly elections and ongoing tensions between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and opposition parties.

These marches will traverse all 117 assembly constituencies, culminating in a rally at the end of the month, which will be addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to Punjab BJP officials, the “Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra” will kick off from four locations between September 18 and 21, covering approximately 4,000 kilometers in total.

On Friday, BJP National President Nitin Naveen will flag off the first march from Ekta Sthal in Madhopur, Pathankot district. This march will pass through several assembly constituencies, including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, and Jalandhar.

The second march will begin on September 19 from Fatehgarh Sahib, with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurating it after paying respects at Gurudwara Shri Jyoti Swaroop Sahib. This journey will conclude in Jalandhar, traversing areas of Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Rupnagar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, and Phagwara.

The third march is scheduled for September 20, starting from the Sadiqi Border in Fazilka, near the Asafwala 1971 War Memorial. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will flag it off. This route will cover Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, Faridkot, Moga, Ludhiana, and Malerkotla.

The final march will commence on September 21 from Gurudwara Shri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will flag it off. This march will also head towards Jalandhar, passing through the districts of Bathinda, Mansa, Barnala, Sangrur, and Patiala.

All four marches are set to converge in Jalandhar on September 30, where the BJP will host a public meeting addressed by Home Minister Shah. The party claims that this campaign is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about drug abuse and to address concerns regarding law and order and corruption in Punjab.
