Explosive Discovery in Katihar Before Muharram Sparks Security Concerns

Katihar, June 24: A sense of alarm has swept through Katihar district in Bihar following the discovery of explosives just before Muharram. Police recovered five live sutli bombs from outside a shop in the Mathura Panchayat area of the Kolasi police camp. In response to the incident, security measures have been significantly heightened throughout the region.

According to reports, police received a tip-off about a suspicious object inside a cold drink crate in front of the ‘Kamla General Store’ located in Mathura Panchayat. Upon receiving the information, Kolasi camp in-charge Sarvan Kumar arrived at the scene with a heavy police presence and cordoned off the area. For safety reasons, nearby residents were promptly evacuated.

During the investigation, police uncovered five sutli bombs from the cold drink crate and secured them safely. Given the seriousness of the situation, a bomb disposal squad was summoned to the scene to deactivate the explosives.

Authorities have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals and have launched an investigation into the matter. Additionally, police patrols and surveillance in the area have been intensified to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Kolasi police have urged local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or activities to the authorities immediately.

Meanwhile, police sub-divisional officer Sunil Sharma confirmed that the action was taken based on confidential information. He stated that the five sutli bombs found in the cold drink crate have been confiscated. A forensic team has been called in to conduct an investigation using scientific methods.

Sharma also indicated that the bomb disposal squad is in the process of neutralizing the explosives, and further legal action is underway. The police are investigating whether this incident is linked to personal enmity or part of a larger conspiracy.

For now, the administration has reported that the situation is under control and has reinforced security measures to ensure that the upcoming festival proceeds peacefully.
