Eoin Morgan Praises Priyansh Aryas Fearless Batting, Calls Him Key to PBKS Team

New Delhi, April 20: Former England captain Eoin Morgan lauded young batsman Priyansh Arya following his impressive performance against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday. Morgan highlighted Arya as a crucial part of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) setup.

Punjab Kings secured a remarkable 54-run victory over LSG, maintaining their top position in the points table. In this match, Priyansh showcased his talent by scoring a powerful 93 runs off just 37 balls, including 4 fours and 9 sixes.

He formed a significant partnership with Cooper Connolly, adding 182 runs for the second wicket off 80 balls, which helped PBKS achieve their highest score of the season. The team finished with 254 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. In response, LSG managed only 200 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs.

Morgan stated on ‘GeoStar’, “Punjab Kings are in a very strong position now, where they no longer rely solely on their captain or a superstar to perform well. They are so far ahead in the game that individual contributions have become secondary. The depth in PBKS’s batting allows them to easily score 230-240 runs, reducing the pressure on key players like Shreyas Iyer. When the batting order performs well, it strengthens the entire team.”

Regarding Arya’s fearless approach, Morgan remarked, “This shows a clear and confident mindset. He comes across as a transparent thinker who is maximizing his opportunities over time. This isn’t just a temporary good form; it’s part of the team’s long-term strategy. Priyansh Arya is undoubtedly a vital part of the Punjab Kings.”

Morgan also commented on Cooper Connolly’s batting, saying, “He is only 22 years old. When a young player enters an environment like Punjab Kings, the most significant aspect is how much it elevates their stature. He appeared a bit uncomfortable initially, but once he settled at the crease, he played exceptionally well.”
