Kolkata, May 9: A large crowd gathered outside Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata for the swearing-in ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari, the first Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with excitement from BJP supporters, saints, and party workers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Gadkari, and various central ministers, along with Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, are expected to attend the ceremony.
A saint present at the event shared with a news agency, “One reason for our presence here is that we are part of the state. For a long time, the Communists and Congress ruled here. The Trinamool Congress has become a party primarily for Muslims. Now that the BJP is forming the government, saints are coming here.”
The saint praised Prime Minister Modi, stating, “PM Modi is favored by Hindus. Wherever he goes, the saffron flag waves. That’s why he is respected in everyone’s hearts.”
Participants, including saints, were seen chanting slogans and some even blew conch shells. Another saint remarked, “The era of Ram Rajya has begun, which is why we are here.”
A BJP supporter who traveled from Delhi expressed, “Today, a Sanatani government is about to be formed in West Bengal. We have come to fulfill our duty as Sanatanis. There is a festive atmosphere in Kolkata today, as if a festival is being celebrated. Many saints have come to attend the swearing-in ceremony.”
Another supporter brought a picture of Rabindranath Tagore to the ceremony, saying, “Today is also the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. That’s why I brought a picture. Our Prime Minister is the ‘Lion of India.’”
A female party worker added, “Prime Minister Modi has called for a ‘Sonar Bangla’ (Golden Bengal), and today the state is moving towards becoming ‘Sonar Bangla.’ The lotus has bloomed in Bengal, and we are excited about Suvendu Adhikari’s swearing-in ceremony.”
