Jammu, June 20: A large number of devotees have embarked on their journey to the annual Mata Kheer Bhawani festival, boarding nearly 200 buses from Nagrota. The excitement among the pilgrims is palpable this year, with an increase in the number of attendees and stringent security measures in place.
BJP legislator Devyani Rana welcomed the pilgrims participating in the Mata Kheer Bhawani journey. Speaking to reporters, she said, “It is our privilege to see all our devotees departing from the old toll post in Nagrota, near the Kol Kandoli Mata temple. I am very pleased that we can serve here as well.”
She added, “We were here last year too, but this time, more people are arriving to visit the temple. This sight is emotional for us. I am happy that we are able to facilitate a large number of pilgrims from Nagrota. I hope that Mata Rani fulfills the wishes of all the devotees.”
One pilgrim expressed her joy, stating, “We feel very good to be here. We are enjoying ourselves immensely. It is our fortune to have the opportunity to serve and witness Mata Rani.”
Another woman shared her excitement about her first visit, saying, “We are very happy to be here for the first time.” A seasoned female pilgrim reflected on her previous experience, noting that the arrangements this year are much better compared to last time. “We are excited to see Mata Rani. There is a large crowd this time, but the arrangements are satisfactory,” she mentioned.
Another devotee shared, “We eagerly await this day every year. We couldn’t sleep last night in our excitement for the Mata Kheer Bhawani visit. We have purchased offerings for Mata Rani’s court.”
Regarding the safety of the pilgrims, Jammu and Kashmir Police DIG Shridhar Patil stated, “We have made robust security arrangements. As in previous years, the pilgrimage group is departing from here. We have made every effort to provide the best possible arrangements for the travelers.”
Relief Commissioner Dr. Arvind Karwani confirmed the increase in monitoring and expressed hope for a safe and smooth completion of the journey.
