New Delhi, July 19: In a spectacular showdown for third place in the FIFA World Cup 2026, England triumphed over France with a score of 6-4. This victory earned England the bronze medal, marking a significant achievement in their football history.

The match was a goal-fest, featuring a total of 10 goals, a first for any World Cup match since 1982. England dominated the game from the outset. Declan Rice opened the scoring with a stunning long-range shot just three minutes into the match. By the 18th minute, Ezri Konsa doubled England’s lead to 2-0 with a powerful header from a corner taken by Rice.

Bukayo Saka added England’s third goal, and just before halftime, he scored again, extending the lead to 4-0. However, France made a strong comeback in the second half. The coach implemented four substitutions, which visibly impacted the team’s performance. France’s Ousmane Dembélé responded with a goal during injury time, making it 5-4. However, Jude Bellingham sealed the victory for England with a sixth goal in the eighth minute of injury time. This performance marks England’s second-best showing in the tournament since winning the FIFA World Cup in 1966.
