New Delhi, October 15 (Daily Kiran): England sealed their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a commanding 5–0 victory over Latvia on Wednesday (IST). Star striker Harry Kane delivered a brilliant performance as England continued their dominant run in Group K, while pre-match pro-Palestine demonstrations ahead of the Italy-Israel clash added tension to the evening’s fixtures.

Playing in Riga, England registered their sixth consecutive win to reach 18 points—establishing a seven-point lead at the top of the group and securing World Cup qualification with two matches remaining.

Anthony Gordon opened the scoring for England before Harry Kane struck twice, including a penalty, to give the team a 3–0 lead at half-time. With this brace, Kane’s tally for the season rose to 21 goals in 13 matches across club and country.

England coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his delight after the match, saying, “Qualifying for the World Cup is always special, and the team’s spirit is absolutely fantastic.”
