New Delhi, June 20: The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 witnessed a remarkable moment on Saturday as Australia’s star player, Elise Perry, achieved a historic milestone. In the match against the Netherlands, Perry became the first player in T20 World Cup history to play 50 matches.
This match marked Perry’s 50th appearance in the T20 World Cup, making her the first player, male or female, to reach this milestone. However, her performance as a batsman was not memorable; she was dismissed for just 1 run.
Perry, who has played from 2009 to 2026, holds the record for the most matches played in the Women’s T20 World Cup, amassing a total of 559 runs. Despite her extensive experience, she has yet to score a half-century, with her highest score being 42. As a bowler, she has also excelled, taking 42 wickets throughout her career.
New Zealand‘s Suzie Bates ranks second, having played 43 matches from 2009 to 2026, scoring 1,235 runs and taking 11 wickets. Australia’s Alyssa Healy is in third place, with 42 matches played between 2010 and 2024, accumulating 1,008 runs. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is fourth, with 41 matches, 774 runs, and 11 wickets to her name. New Zealand’s Sophie Devine rounds out the top five, with 40 matches, 852 runs, and 29 wickets.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is currently underway, and except for Alyssa Healy, the top five players are participating in this edition, which will further increase their match, run, and wicket totals.
In the men’s T20 World Cup, India’s Rohit Sharma leads with 47 matches, followed by England’s Jos Buttler and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, both with 43 matches. Australia’s David Warner and England’s Adil Rashid complete the top five with 41 and 38 matches, respectively.
