The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted dry weather in Puducherry and parts of Tamil Nadu due to changes in the speed and pattern of the eastern winds.
According to the IMD, the weakening of the eastern winds has reduced moisture in the region, increasing the likelihood of dry conditions. As a result, most areas in Tamil Nadu and nearby union territories are expected to experience dry weather with very little chance of rainfall in the near future.
The weather department also indicated that minimum temperatures in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to remain stable, close to seasonal averages. Day and night temperatures are expected to show little variation, ensuring relatively steady weather despite the dryness.
In Chennai, light clouds are expected throughout the day, with maximum temperatures ranging between 30 and 31 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures around 21 to 22 degrees Celsius. Temperature fluctuations are unlikely, and humidity levels are expected to stay normal.
However, the IMD has issued strong warnings for coastal and marine areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as strong winds are predicted along the southern Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, and Kanyakumari waters. Wind speeds are expected between 40 and 50 km/h, occasionally reaching up to 60 km/h, which may cause rough sea conditions and high waves.
In view of the weather forecast, fishermen from southern coastal districts have been urged to remain onshore until conditions improve. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation across southern India and provide updates as necessary.
Residents, coastal communities, and fishermen are advised to stay alert and strictly follow official weather advisories to ensure safety.
