Peshawar, February 23: A tragic drone attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, has resulted in the deaths of three members of the Federal Constabulary (FC). The incident occurred during a series of assaults targeting security forces. The victims were transporting injured colleagues to a hospital when they were struck by a second attack, according to local media reports.
Prominent daily Dawn reported that the attack took place on Monday in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police spokesperson Shaukat Khan identified the assailants as terrorists. Allegedly, the attackers initially targeted the Federal Constabulary Fort in the Dargah Shaheedan area using a drone.
Karak police officer Saud Khan stated that while the injured were being transported in an ambulance, the vehicle came under fire, leading to the deaths of three FC personnel.
This incident marks the third attack in a week aimed at paramilitary or military forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Just last week, a suicide bombing at a checkpoint in the Bajaur district resulted in the deaths of 11 security personnel.
On February 18, two FC members were injured in an assault by unidentified attackers at a checkpoint in the Salgazi area of Wazir subdivision.
Moreover, in November of last year, a significant attack on the forces occurred when a suicide bomber targeted the headquarters of the Federal Constabulary in the Saddar area of Peshawar, resulting in the deaths of three personnel.
There has been a noticeable increase in alleged terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past year. According to the annual security report for 2025 by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), violence in the region has surged. The number of fatalities rose significantly from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025, marking an alarming increase of approximately 44%.
