Digvijaya Singh Visits Ram Temple Amid BJPs Criticism

New Delhi, March 28: BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh has criticized senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for visiting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Vallabh suggested that Singh’s visit is motivated by the Congress party’s decision not to send him to the Rajya Sabha.

On Thursday, Digvijaya Singh visited Ayodhya, marking his first visit since the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ram Temple. During a conversation in New Delhi, Vallabh remarked that Singh should also explain to his protégé, Rahul Gandhi, why he is committing sins.

Vallabh raised a pertinent question: if Singh was informed by the Congress that he would not be sent to the Rajya Sabha, why did he choose to visit Ram Lalla? He claimed that if Singh had been offered a Rajya Sabha seat, he would not have made the pilgrimage to the temple. Vallabh urged Singh to clarify whether his faith in Lord Ram brought him to Ayodhya or if it was the lack of an opportunity to go to the Rajya Sabha that led him there.

It is noteworthy that Digvijaya Singh extended his wishes to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, stating, “May Lord Ram’s blessings be upon all.” When asked about Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Ayodhya, Singh suggested that inquiries should be directed towards Gandhi.

The Congress party has historically refrained from openly supporting the construction of the Ram Temple. In January 2024, it declined an invitation to the consecration ceremony, labeling it a politically motivated move influenced by electoral interests. The party also expressed concerns that the temple construction was incomplete at that time and that the event had taken on a partisan character rather than remaining purely religious.
