Patna, March 28: Actor-turned-politician Arun Govil stated on Friday that the decision regarding Nitish Kumar’s potential move to the Rajya Sabha is a personal matter and an internal issue for his party.
Govil made this remark upon arriving at Patna’s Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport. Responding to ongoing speculation about Kumar’s possible transition to the Rajya Sabha, Govil adopted a cautious stance. He refrained from making direct comments, acknowledging Kumar’s seniority within the party.
“This is an internal decision for Nitish Kumar’s party. If he wishes to go to the Rajya Sabha, it may be his personal desire. He is a highly respected leader, and I do not find it appropriate to comment on the personality of someone of his stature,” Govil remarked.
Upon his arrival in Patna, Govil received a grand welcome. The airport echoed with chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” reflecting the enthusiasm of his supporters.
During his first visit to Bihar as a Member of Parliament, Govil discussed not only spiritual topics but also current political developments. He welcomed the central government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, calling it a relief for citizens amid rising global prices.
Govil criticized misleading statements regarding fuel shortages and praised the government’s move as a positive step. He mentioned that his visit was at the invitation of BJP National President Nitin Nabin and expressed deep emotional and spiritual ties to Bihar.
Describing the state as a land of knowledge and penance, he highlighted its cultural significance, particularly its connection to Goddess Sita. He also expressed a desire to visit Sitamarhi, believed to be Sita’s birthplace, to pray.
His visit coincided with the Ram Navami celebrations, adding both political and spiritual significance to the ongoing festivities in the state. Speaking about his new responsibilities as an MP, Govil emphasized his commitment to serve the people of Meerut with utmost dedication and integrity.
