A large crowd witnessed the enchanting Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal at Ujjains Mahakaleshwar Temple, celebrating a rich tradition.

Ujjain, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Early on November 2, 2026, the sacred Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain came alive as devotees gathered for the mesmerizing Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal. The temple’s premises were filled with worshippers eager to witness this divine spectacle.
At dawn, after seeking the blessings of Lord Veerabhadra, the temple doors were opened with the sound of drums and bells. Following the elaborate decoration and the Bhasma Aarti, devotees were granted a glimpse of Baba Mahakal.
The atmosphere was electric, resonating with chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal.” The temple echoed with the sounds of bells, conch shells, and the recitation of mantras. As the doors of the temple opened, the idol of Lord Mahakal was bathed with sacred water, followed by a ritual using Panchamrit made from milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and fruit juices.
During the worship, the first bell was rung, and water was offered in reverence. After the camphor Aarti, Baba Mahakal adorned a crown, and the Bhasma Aarti commenced with the accompaniment of traditional musical instruments.
Baba Mahakal was beautifully adorned with mogra and rose flowers, presenting himself before the devotees in a regal form. Many had queued since the night before, eager to partake in this sacred observance.
According to tradition, the Mahanirvani Akhara offers the sacred ash to Baba Mahakal. It is believed that after this offering, Baba Mahakal reveals his form to the devotees. Each year, countless pilgrims flock to the holy city of Ujjain to participate in this extraordinary Aarti, feeling blessed by the experience.
