Controversy Erupts Over Dhirendra Shastris Comments on Lord Krishna
Dhirendra Shastris remarks comparing Lord Ram and Lord Krishna spark political backlash, leading to widespread calls for accountability.
Karera, Shivpuri District, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : A significant political uproar has emerged following comments made by Dhirendra Shastri, the head of Bageshwar Dham, during a Ram Katha event in Karera, Shivpuri District. His remarks comparing Lord Ram to Lord Krishna, particularly comments about Krishna’s posture being “twisted,” have drawn sharp criticism from opposition leaders.
Akhilesh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party, expressed his outrage on social media, stating, “Human errors can be forgiven, but blasphemy cannot. Such individuals should face a lifetime ban, and all their programs across the country should be canceled.” He emphasized that no true devotee should associate with Shastri, labeling his actions as unforgivable.
Priyanka Chaturvedi from the Shiv Sena (UBT) also chimed in, arguing that Shastri’s comments trivialize the divine representations of Lord Vishnu. She stated that the dialogue between saint Surdas and Tulsidas was a celebration of devotion to different forms of the same deity, not a means to declare one superior to the other.
Tejashwi Yadav from the Rashtriya Janata Dal condemned Shastri’s remarks as “indecent and intolerable,” asserting that such divisive rhetoric undermines the unity of people. He called for political leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, to apologize for Shastri’s comments.
Mahua Moitra, a member of the Trinamool Congress, questioned the silence of the Bharatiya Janata Party regarding Shastri’s statements, suggesting that had someone else made similar remarks, there would have been an uproar.
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also criticized Shastri, implying that his comments reflect a misunderstanding of the differences between Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. He suggested an investigation into Shastri’s mental state, questioning the integrity of his remarks.
In light of the escalating controversy, Dhirendra Shastri released a video apology, stating that his comments were misinterpreted. He clarified that his intent was never to offend anyone and that he was merely expressing his thoughts in a light-hearted manner.
