New Delhi, March 19: The Navratri festival has commenced, marking the beginning of the Chaitra month. Early this morning, long queues of devotees were seen at the renowned ancient temples across New Delhi. The excitement of the first day of Navratri has enveloped the city.
At prominent temples dedicated to the goddess, such as the Kalkaji Temple and Jhandewalan Devi Temple, large gatherings of worshippers were evident. The rituals of prayer, adornment, and aarti have been ongoing since morning. Devotees shared their experiences during their visits.
One devotee at the Kalkaji Temple remarked, “The arrangements during Navratri are excellent. That’s why I come here every year.” Another added, “This temple is very ancient and holds significant reverence. My family and I have been visiting for many years. The morning crowd is manageable, but as the day progresses, we expect more devotees to arrive. People come from far and wide to seek the blessings of the goddess.”
An emotional devotee expressed, “Kalkaji Temple is known as a Shakti Peeth. Here, devotees bring offerings of light. It is said that whatever you ask of Mata Rani is fulfilled. We pray that she continues to bless us. For nine days, we dedicate ourselves to her service.”
The enthusiasm was equally high at the Jhandewalan Devi Temple. One devotee conveyed, “First of all, I wish all devotees a very happy New Year on behalf of the temple society. May the great goddess fulfill everyone’s wishes.”
He further noted the long lines of devotees eager to have darshan of Mata Rani. Today marks the first day of Navratri, with special worship and adornment dedicated to Devi Shailaputri. The festival begins with her worship, and all seekers, yogis, and devotees embark on their nine-day spiritual journey starting today.
A long-time visitor stated, “I have been coming here regularly for the past 20 years. With the goddess’s grace, everything falls into place. This is not just a new or private temple; you can call it Delhi’s Vaishno Devi. No one leaves empty-handed from here. The goddess never disappoints anyone.”
Another devotee shared, “The goddess grants darshan to everyone. My father served here for many years. My family and I come every morning at 4 AM for prayers. We always receive wonderful blessings. The goddess fulfills everyone’s wishes.”
