Guwahati, March 27: Central Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita expressed support for the continuous existence of ‘double-engine’ governments during a press conference in Assam. He stated that states lacking such governance are missing out on development and progress.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the BJP in the Titabar assembly constituency of Jorhat district, Margherita claimed that several non-BJP ruled states, including Karnataka, Punjab, and West Bengal, are lagging in development due to the absence of a ‘double-engine’ government.
He emphasized that a coordinated governance system between the center and the state ensures the rapid implementation of welfare schemes, improved infrastructure, and better delivery of public services.
“Double-engine government accelerates development and ensures that the benefits of central government schemes reach the people without any hindrance. The BJP-led government in Assam has seen significant progress in areas such as connectivity, law and order, and social welfare in recent years,” he stated.
Margherita described Assam under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as a “safe and rapidly developing state.” He stressed the necessity of having the BJP in power at both the center and the state to maintain the momentum of development and ensure a “safe and developed Assam.”
He urged the people of Assam to bless the BJP once again and assist in forming a government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He added, “The mandate of the people will be crucial for moving forward on the path of a safe and developed Assam. We seek the public’s blessing to form the government again.”
With the upcoming assembly elections, the BJP has intensified its campaign across Assam, with senior leaders addressing rallies and public outreach programs in various constituencies. Voting for the 126 seats in the Assam Assembly is scheduled for April 9, with counting set for May 4.
