New Delhi, March 31: The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, T.S. Sandhu, visited Kamla Nagar Market near Delhi University on Tuesday. During his visit, he engaged with local residents and assured them of prompt solutions to their concerns, including parking, cleanliness, safety, women’s security, and the high rents for PG accommodations for students.
Sandhu took a unique approach by informally interacting with citizens, reminiscing about his college days while enjoying street food he used to relish decades ago. He posed for pictures with college students and assessed the issues faced by local residents, setting a new standard for public engagement and accessibility.
In a social media post, the LG reflected on his visit to the iconic Kamla Nagar Market, where he interacted with shopkeepers, staff, vendors, customers, tourists, and students who still flock to the area with vibrant energy. He also sampled the popular Chache Di Hatti’s chole bhature.
He emphasized that in-depth discussions were held with locals regarding major civic concerns such as parking, cleanliness, safety, women’s security, and the high rents for PG accommodations. These issues will be raised with the relevant departments, agencies, and officials to ensure timely resolutions.
On Sunday, Sandhu made an unexpected visit to Connaught Place for direct interactions with the business community and general visitors. A statement noted that he assessed the efficiency of urban management and public infrastructure during his visit.
Throughout his tour, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the ‘bottom-up’ governance model, ensuring that grassroots participation keeps administrative implementation aligned with the highest standards of service delivery.
A statement released by the public residence mentioned that he paid tribute at the iconic Red Fort on Delhi Fateh Day, commemorating the victory of Khalsa under Baba Baghel Singh in 1783. Such active monitoring is essential for maintaining the reputation and smooth operation of these historic sites in the national capital.
