Delhis Lieutenant Governor Discusses Environmental Issues with Union Minister Bhupender Yadav

New Delhi, May 27: Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu met with Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, on Tuesday to address the city’s air and water pollution concerns.

Sandhu shared details of the meeting on the social media platform X, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in tackling environmental challenges.

Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta initiated a ride-sharing service at airports to reduce vehicle-related pollution. She stated that the Delhi government is committed to creating a clean, green, and smart capital through innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.

Gupta highlighted that the launch of the ride-sharing service is a significant step towards reducing traffic congestion, lowering vehicle emissions, and encouraging citizens to adopt shared and eco-friendly transport options. This initiative reflects Delhi’s vision of a modern, technology-driven, and passenger-friendly transport system.

In another development, the Delhi government’s Environment Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Airaavat Research Foundation of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in the presence of Chief Minister Gupta.

According to a statement, the MoU aims to effectively and scientifically address the challenge of air pollution. It will remain in effect for the next five years.

Through this partnership, air quality management in the national capital will be strengthened using artificial intelligence (AI), advanced data analytics, local monitoring, and scientific decision-support systems.

Chief Minister Gupta noted that this collaboration will play a crucial role in accurately identifying pollution sources, monitoring pollution hotspots, improving forecasting systems, and ensuring timely interventions.
