New Delhi, August 19: The Delhi government’s ambitious ‘Delhi Lakshmi Scheme’ will begin distributing letters to eligible women for monthly financial assistance on August 26. This event will take place at the Talkatora Stadium.
During the event, qualified women will receive official letters confirming their enrollment in the scheme. Starting September 1, funds will be directly deposited into their bank accounts. This process will continue, ensuring that eligible women regularly benefit from the program.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reviewed the Delhi Lakshmi Scheme in a meeting at the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday. She reported that within just 18 days of the scheme’s launch, nearly eight lakh women have registered on the portal, with over five lakh applications submitted.
The meeting included Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, along with the chairpersons and officials of the district-level approval, monitoring, and grievance redressal committees (DLAMGRC) established for the scheme. The committee assessed the progress of the initiative and praised the work accomplished in such a short time.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that women are showing considerable enthusiasm and interest in the Delhi Lakshmi Scheme. One official stated that the current government is seriously working towards women’s empowerment and economic independence, ensuring that the benefits reach eligible women directly.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the crucial role of district-level committees in the scheme’s success. She instructed committee officials to thoroughly review and monitor each application to ensure that eligible women receive benefits without unnecessary delays.
She noted that the quicker the verification process is completed, the faster cases will be resolved, expediting the pension distribution to eligible women. Gupta also mentioned that local representatives are part of the district-level committees. Therefore, if any application contains suspicious information, it must be thoroughly investigated to avoid future complications.
The government will soon introduce a feature on the official Delhi Lakshmi Scheme portal, allowing eligible women who submitted incorrect or incomplete information in their applications to make necessary corrections.
