Controversy Surrounds Vande Mataram as BJP Leaders Criticize Congress

New Delhi, August 19: The political landscape has intensified following the Congress party’s alleged disrespect towards the national song, Vande Mataram. BJP leaders have openly criticized the Congress party for its actions. Union Minister Giriraj Singh, along with Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission Vice Chairperson Aparna Yadav and BJP leader RP Singh, have raised questions directed at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

During a media interaction, Union Minister Giriraj Singh stated, “Under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, this is a fake Congress. Sonia Gandhi did not take Indian citizenship for nearly 15 years after her marriage, and there is still an ongoing court case regarding Rahul Gandhi’s dual citizenship. They have no love for India and show no respect for the national anthem. This is a fake Congress.”

In Mumbai, Aparna Yadav commented, “Such incidents clearly demonstrate that disrespecting Vande Mataram reflects the Congress party’s attitude towards India, its culture, and traditions. Just as they opposed Lord Ram, they are now opposing Vande Mataram and using derogatory language against it. This is absolutely wrong.”

Aparna highlighted how senior officials and national president Mallikarjun Kharge of the Congress party disrespected the national anthem during the flag hoisting ceremony on Independence Day at the Congress headquarters. She stated that hurting the soul of India is unacceptable for Congress.

BJP National Spokesperson RP Singh remarked, “This is not the Congress that participated in the freedom struggle. This is a Congress with a new DNA. This Congress bears the imprint of elsewhere, which is why they have no connection to Vande Mataram. They are only interested in vote banks and Muslim votes, which is why they won’t sing the entire Vande Mataram. If it is sung in full, they will object to that too.”

BJP leader Subrat Pathak added, “It is clear that Congress has deliberately downplayed Vande Mataram. If the national song praises Mother India, it also praises Goddess Durga. Under pressure from extremists, that line was minimized. Overall, Kharge is still following that line, and Congress is moving down the same path.”

He emphasized that a song that inspired the nation during its struggle for independence, with freedom fighters singing it as they faced the gallows, has been disrespected by Congress. Passing a law in Parliament regarding such a historic song while disrespecting Vande Mataram and the Constitution is unacceptable.

Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organization, stated, “Creating controversy or opposing Vande Mataram is not right, as it is a song with an established legal framework. This has been passed by Parliament, so objecting to it, opposing it, or disrespecting it is against our country.”
