Delhi Police Busts Interstate Heroin Network, Seizes Drugs Worth ₹60 Crore

Delhi Police dismantled a major heroin network, arresting seven and seizing drugs valued at ₹60 crore in a significant operation.

New Delhi, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi Police have successfully dismantled a significant interstate heroin network, leading to the arrest of seven individuals and the seizure of 8.128 kilograms of heroin valued at approximately ₹60 crore in the international market. This operation spanned across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand.

The police action was part of the “Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan” (Drug-Free India Campaign) and was executed by the special staff from Rohini District. In addition to the heroin, authorities confiscated 3.291 kilograms of chemicals and raw materials used for heroin production, ₹12.81 lakh in cash, three SUVs, one motorcycle, and various tools for illegal drug manufacturing.

The investigation revealed connections among suppliers, a heroin manufacturing unit, and individuals involved in illegal opium cultivation. The operation began on September 16, when police received information about drug trafficking in the Begumpur area.

Acting on this intelligence, a police team set up a trap in Sector 32 of Begumpur and stopped a vehicle. They arrested 58-year-old Lakshman Hooda from Rohtak, Haryana, seizing 300 grams of heroin and ₹3 lakh in cash from his car. On September 17, another suspect, 51-year-old Anil, known as Bhola, was apprehended in Sonipat, Haryana, with 501 grams of heroin. Anil has a criminal record with 12 previous cases, including an earlier arrest in an NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case.

Following his interim bail, Anil failed to surrender, leading the court to declare him a “proclaimed offender.” On October 4, police traced the heroin production unit located in the Sita Colony of Janakipuram, Lucknow, based on further investigation and technical surveillance.

They arrested 35-year-old Bablu, discovering 6.275 kilograms of heroin in his possession. Additionally, police seized 2.504 kilograms of sodium, 787 grams of acetic anhydride, a gas cylinder, a mixer-grinder, various utensils, an electronic weighing scale, polyethylene, and other equipment used in the manufacturing process.

After interrogating Bablu, police conducted extensive searches, leading to the arrest of Rukhsar Ali, also known as Raju, in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Rukhsar is believed to be the owner of the production unit and a key supplier. He has previously been involved in three NDPS-related cases.

On October 6, 38-year-old Ajaz Ahmad was arrested in Bareilly, accused of supplying raw opium to Rukhsar. Police recovered 501 grams of heroin and a motorcycle from him. Subsequently, on October 16, 20-year-old Mohammad Azhar from Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested for allegedly supplying heroin and raw opium to Ajaz, with police seizing 551 grams of heroin, ₹9.81 lakh in cash, and a car.

On October 18, police teams reached Chatra district in Jharkhand, apprehending 31-year-old Prakash Kumar, who was accused of supplying raw opium to other suspects and engaging in illegal opium cultivation on his agricultural land.
