New Delhi, February 13: The President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, has accused Saurabh Bhardwaj, the Delhi convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), of deliberately spreading misinformation. This, he claims, is an attempt to divert public attention from the alleged scams in the health and education sectors during the Arvind Kejriwal government.

Sachdeva refuted Bhardwaj’s assertion that the BJP government is merely renaming existing health centers and mohalla clinics to ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir.’ He emphasized that Bhardwaj, who has previously served as the health minister, is well aware that the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs being established under the current government are fully equipped to treat various ailments and provide essential health check-ups.

In contrast, Sachdeva pointed out that the mohalla clinics under the Kejriwal administration primarily treated minor ailments like coughs and colds, and became notorious for referral scams involving X-rays and pathology labs.

He further stated that after 11 years in power, Bhardwaj should recognize that the Kejriwal government had completely shut down government dispensaries to promote the mohalla clinic model. Sachdeva highlighted that linking these dispensaries to the central government’s Ayushman scheme and upgrading them to operationalize 51 Arogya Mandirs within a year is a significant achievement for the BJP.

Previously, Bhardwaj had challenged the Delhi government to disclose how many new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been constructed in new buildings versus those that have merely undergone name changes. He asserted that merely renaming health centers does not enhance services.

Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 51 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Fatehpur Beri village, marking a substantial step towards strengthening the capital’s health system. With these new centers, the total number of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the capital has reached 370, a significant milestone achieved in just eight months.

The Chief Minister stated that her government prioritizes timely, affordable, and accessible health services for every citizen. In addition to health initiatives, she also inaugurated development projects worth ₹322 crores in the Chhatarpur assembly constituency.

These projects include road construction and strengthening, drainage improvements, infrastructure upgrades, traffic decongestion measures, school development, and enhancements to public facilities. There will also be an expansion of basic civic amenities in local colonies.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the approval of a double-decker flyover on Mehrauli–Badarpur Road at a cost of ₹1,471 crores. Three new schools will also be built in the Chhatarpur assembly constituency, along with the approval of four elevated road projects in Chhatarpur and surrounding areas.
