Beijing, March 25: The Director-General of the National Data Administration of China, Liu Lyehong, announced in a press conference that as of March, the daily usage of tokens in China has exceeded 1.4 trillion. This figure represents an increase of over 1,000 times since the beginning of 2024 and a 40% rise since the end of last year.
Liu stated that the surge in average daily token usage indicates that China has entered a rapid development phase in artificial intelligence (AI). The continuous expansion of AI applications is significantly enhancing the competitive strength of China’s AI sector.
According to Liu, collaborative efforts from various stakeholders are expected to result in over 100,000 quality datasets in China by the end of 2025, with a total size surpassing 890 petabytes.
He emphasized that the National Data Administration will continue to focus on empowering creative development in AI through data and will implement plans for the creation of new, high-quality datasets in collaboration with various parties.
