Cyclone Murasu: 14 NDRF Teams Deployed in Andhra Pradesh, Six Districts Identified as Most Affected
NDRF has deployed 14 teams in Andhra Pradesh as Cyclone Murasu makes landfall, affecting six districts.

Amaravati, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) announced on November 3 that it has deployed 14 teams across Andhra Pradesh in response to Cyclone Murasu. Officials have identified six districts as the most affected areas. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties so far.
Speaking with reporters, NDRF Deputy Inspector General Mohsen Shahedi noted that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed the landfall process began early Tuesday morning and was completed by around 9 a.m.
“The landfall process for Cyclone Murasu started this morning. According to the latest information from the IMD, it was completed around 9:00 a.m. We have deployed 14 teams in Andhra Pradesh, and three teams have been sent from Tamil Nadu,” he stated.
The six districts identified are expected to experience the most significant impact, with NDRF teams working alongside the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local administration.
Shahedi added that preparations have also been made in states likely to be affected by the cyclone. He warned that strong winds and heavy rainfall could impact a large area.
“The area affected by the cyclone is generally extensive due to high winds and rain. Five states have been identified as potentially impacted, including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and parts of northern Tamil Nadu. NDRF teams have been deployed in these states as well,” he explained.
Regarding the cyclone’s movement and intensity, he indicated that the system is expected to weaken gradually, reducing the likelihood of significant effects outside Andhra Pradesh. “Based on current information, this cyclone will soon transition into a cyclonic storm and then into a deep depression by midnight. Therefore, the impact of this cyclone outside Andhra is expected to diminish,” he said.
As of now, there have been no reports of injuries, and officials are closely monitoring the situation while conducting response operations in the affected areas.
