Patna, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued severe weather warnings for several districts in Bihar due to the impact of Cyclone ‘Arnab’. Heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are expected across the region.
A ‘Red Alert’ has been declared for Sitamarhi and Madhubani, where very heavy rainfall and lightning strikes are anticipated. Meanwhile, an ‘Orange Alert’ is in effect for Darbhanga, Shivhar, East Champaran, and West Champaran, indicating the likelihood of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
Additionally, a ‘Yellow Alert‘ has been issued for Patna and several other districts, warning residents of potential rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. Authorities advise the public to remain vigilant and adhere to weather advisories issued for their respective areas. According to the Patna meteorological center, the effects of this weather system are expected to persist until October 31.
The IMD also predicts a significant drop in maximum temperatures across various parts of Bihar, suggesting that the weather may turn cooler after the rainfall. Some areas are already experiencing winter-like chill, particularly in Patna, where cloud cover and intermittent rain have led to a noticeable decline in temperatures.
The department has warned that heavy rains could lead to waterlogging, disrupting normal life in affected regions. Strong winds and lightning pose risks for those working outdoors. Residents are advised to seek shelter in sturdy buildings during storms, avoid open fields during lightning, and stay away from trees.
The meteorological center has urged people to disregard rumors and rely on official weather bulletins and government advisories for accurate information. According to the latest district-wise warnings from the IMD, adverse weather conditions may persist in parts of Bihar until Saturday, October 31.
Cyclone ‘Arnab’ has already severely impacted daily life in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with coastal areas of Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar also feeling its effects.
