Assams Hospitality Sector Set for Growth with Adani Airports-IHCL Partnership

Assams hospitality sector is poised for growth as Adani Airports and IHCL announce a partnership to establish major hotel brands in Guwahati.

Guwahati, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday a significant partnership between Adani Airports and the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL). This collaboration will see the establishment of three prominent hotel brands—Taj, Gateway, and Ginger—in Guwahati. Sarma emphasized that this investment signals Assam’s growing economic potential and increasing investor confidence in the region.

On the social media platform X, the Chief Minister remarked, “Major brands seek major opportunities, and such opportunities are rapidly emerging in Assam.” He detailed that these hotel projects are part of a broader hospitality initiative developed by Adani Airports and IHCL.

The presence of these renowned hotel brands is expected to further solidify Guwahati’s position as an emerging aviation and commercial hub in Northeast India. Sarma noted that this investment reflects the rising air traffic, tourism expansion, and growing business activities in the state, as well as the increasing trust of the private sector.

The Chief Minister described this development as a testament to the strategic importance of Guwahati, reinforcing investor confidence in the area. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to making Assam a leading economic and connectivity center in the Northeast.

This announcement comes at a time when Assam is rapidly expanding its aviation and infrastructure facilities. Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is already recognized as a key gateway to Northeast India, connecting the region to several major cities across the country and abroad.

Experts believe that the introduction of established hotel brands like Taj, Gateway, and Ginger will enhance the city’s accommodation and hospitality capacity. This development will provide better amenities for business travelers, tourists, and transit passengers.

The project also indicates a growing interest from major corporate groups in Assam’s tourism, hospitality, and service sectors. The state’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and strategic geographical location are making it an attractive destination for investors.

The Chief Minister highlighted that improved air connectivity, robust infrastructure, and increasing private sector participation are strengthening Assam’s identity as a major economic center in Eastern and Northeast India. He pointed out that an aviation-based development model will play a crucial role in promoting tourism, creating jobs, and generating new economic opportunities in the state.
