Court Delays Decision on CBI Charge Sheet in NEET Paper Leak Case

New Delhi, August 10: The decision regarding the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charge sheet in the NEET UG paper leak case has been postponed by the Rouse Avenue Court. The court will announce its decision on the charge sheet on Wednesday.

All 13 accused appeared via video conferencing. The special fast-track court at Rouse Avenue rejected the application requesting lie detector, brain mapping, and polygraph tests for accused Mangilal Bival, Dinesh Bival, and Vikas Bival.

The CBI has filed a 20,000-page charge sheet in the NEET paper leak case. Notable accused include Yash Yadav, Mangilal Bival, Dinesh Bival, Vikas Bival, Shubham Khairnar, Dhananjay Lokhande, Prahlad Kulkarni, Tejas Harshad Kumar, Dr. Manoj Shirure, Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, Manisha Waghmare, Manisha Mandhare, and Manisha Sanjay Hawaldar.

According to the CBI, three subject experts extracted NEET exam questions from the National Testing Agency (NTA) office in various ways. The agency stated that the accused were able to do this because they were not searched when exiting the confidential section.

The CBI noted that there was no protocol for checking and searching experts during entry and exit from the confidential section at the NTA. Additionally, there was no dedicated CCTV live feed monitoring control room, which resulted in no oversight of the experts’ activities in the confidential hall.

The charge sheet revealed that one accused wrote questions on paper slips and hid them, while two others memorized the questions and either wrote them down upon returning to their hotel rooms or marked relevant articles in NCERT textbooks.

The investigation indicated that experts were provided plain sheets of paper for rough work during translation and re-translation within the confidential section. Accused P.V. Kulkarni used these sheets to summarize all 135 questions and answer options in chemistry.
