New Delhi, March 18: Actress Sara Ali Khan must submit an affidavit to visit the Kedarnath-Badrinath temples, according to the temple committee’s new policy. This decision has sparked criticism from Maulana Sajid Rashidi, who finds the requirement shameful.
In a recent conversation in New Delhi, Rashidi stated that film stars should not be confined to a single religion. He pointed out that both Sara Ali Khan and Salman Khan celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi at home without needing to provide any affidavit. Furthermore, he noted that film stars often celebrate Holi together, yet no certificates are requested during these festivities.
Rashidi highlighted that Sara Ali Khan has previously visited temples and has faced controversies regarding her faith. He also referenced actress Nusrat Bharucha, who has been involved in similar disputes over temple visits. He questioned the need for proof of faith when artists openly celebrate Hindu festivals.
The new policy requires all non-Hindus visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath to prove their faith through an affidavit. Hemant Dwivedi, chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee, confirmed that if Sara Ali Khan wishes to visit Kedarnath, she must provide proof of her faith in Sanatan Dharma to gain entry.
The committee’s recent meeting resulted in a significant decision: non-Sanatani individuals will be prohibited from entering several temples, including Kedarnath and Badrinath. Dwivedi explained that individuals from any background can be allowed entry if they express their faith in Sanatan Dharma and submit the required affidavit.
