Congress Prioritizes Political Interests Over National Concerns, Claims Karnataka BJP

Bengaluru, March 3: BJP MLC C.T. Ravi accused the Congress party of placing political interests above national interests on Tuesday. He criticized Congress’s stance on issues related to national security and foreign policy.

Ravi stated that India, as a sovereign nation, makes decisions based on its national interests and the demands of the situation. He described the non-alignment policy as a temporary approach adopted in a specific historical context. According to him, India makes necessary decisions in matters of national security based on its strategic interests.

He asserted, “For Congress, political interests seem to take precedence over national interests.” Ravi further claimed that Congress is primarily concerned with protecting its voter base.

He emphasized that the BJP does not adopt such an approach and insisted that there should not be differing stances based on party or community on national issues.

Ravi expressed hope that the situation would become clearer after March 4. He noted that two flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai had already arrived in Bengaluru, indicating that the situation is gradually stabilizing.

He mentioned that the Ministry of External Affairs has advised against panic and has shared contact details for the consulate office for assistance. He reiterated that India has previously rescued citizens stranded in Syria and parts of Africa, assuring that there is no need for concern.

Regarding allegations of surveillance and phone tapping, Ravi remarked that such claims were made by a former chief minister and opposition leader, suggesting they must have had some clues or evidence to support their assertions.

He added that tapping the phones of their own legislators could help understand their plans and could be viewed as an attempt to protect the government and its position.

Ravi also questioned what steps are being taken to understand public sentiments. These comments come amid ongoing political controversies in Karnataka related to phone tapping allegations and internal strife within the ruling party.
