New Delhi, February 26: Congress MP Tariq Anwar commented on the clash between Delhi and Himachal police during the arrest of Youth Congress workers in Shimla. He stated that the protest was a demonstration of democratic rights at the AI Summit. Anwar also raised concerns about PM Modi‘s popularity.

In a conversation in New Delhi, Anwar pointed out that when police from one state go to arrest someone in another state, they typically inform the local police. He questioned how the Delhi police arrived in Shimla to arrest Youth Congress members who had not committed any serious crimes. “They were merely exercising their democratic rights,” he noted, criticizing the Delhi police for taking the Youth Congress protest too seriously.

Regarding PM Modi‘s Instagram following of 100 million, Anwar made a sarcastic remark, suggesting that such numbers are often inflated. “Anyone familiar with social media knows how followers are increased. Many of these are fake followers, and PM Modi‘s popularity is declining,” he asserted. He attributed this decline to India’s recent deals with the United States, suggesting that it has negatively impacted Modi’s standing. “Only time will reveal how popular he truly is,” he added.

Anwar also addressed comments made by Maharashtra minister Nitish Rane about madrasas, labeling them as indicative of a mindset that spreads venom against the Muslim community.

In response to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s praise for PM Modi, Anwar remarked that it is common for foreign dignitaries to welcome and compliment visiting leaders. “This is not a new occurrence,” he said.

On the controversy surrounding changes to NCERT textbooks, Anwar stated that the court’s observations suggest a conspiracy aimed at discrediting the judiciary by altering children’s educational materials.
