Congress MP Criticizes CCS Meeting as Reactive, Calls for All-Party Discussion

New Delhi, March 23: Congress MP Sukdev Bhagat has expressed his views on the recent meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) regarding the situation in West Asia. He described the government’s actions as merely ‘fire fighting.’ With the ongoing parliamentary session and a nationwide crisis, he believes the government should convene an all-party meeting following the CCS discussions.

Speaking to a news agency, Bhagat stated, “The CCS meeting took place on Sunday, but it feels like a reactive measure. Did the government have no foresight? The conflict has been ongoing for a long time. These steps have been taken quite late. While the policy may be sound, what will be the level of implementation?”

He further criticized the timing, noting, “With elections happening in various states, the BJP prioritizes elections above all else. I believe it is the government’s responsibility to ensure implementation after the CCS meeting.”

Bhagat also highlighted the dependency on gas and oil from West Asia but suggested that Latin America, Africa, and Russia could serve as better alternatives. He urged the government to work on coordinating both short-term and long-term policies.

In addition, Bhagat responded to the alliance between AIMIM and the ‘Common People’s Advancement Party’ in West Bengal. He remarked, “Whenever secular forces’ votes are fragmented, it indirectly supports the BJP. Asaduddin Owaisi is known for this, and he is often accused of causing such divisions. He does this very deliberately, which is why we refer to him as the BJP’s ‘B-Team.’”

Regarding the recent shift of several Congress leaders to the BJP in Assam, Bhagat commented, “The BJP in Assam has now become a ‘Congress-infused BJP.’ They are facing a shortage of leaders, which is why they are bringing in Congress leaders for elections. However, I can confidently say that under the leadership of Gaurav Gogoi, our government will be formed in Assam.”
