
New Delhi, March 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute on Monday to Ram Manohar Lohia, a prominent socialist thinker and freedom fighter, on his birth anniversary. PM Modi highlighted Lohia’s exceptional intellect and his significant role as a leading voice for social justice. He noted that Lohia’s unwavering commitment to empowering the poor and marginalized continues to inspire generations today.
In a post on the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “On the birth anniversary of Ram Manohar Lohia, I pay my humble respects. He was a multifaceted personality who played a crucial role in mobilizing people against colonial rule and contributed significantly to India’s progress post-1947. He was an outstanding thinker and a leading voice for social justice. His steadfast commitment to empowering the poor and marginalized continues to inspire generations. His thoughts on gender equality and participatory governance are equally remarkable.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also remembered Lohia’s contributions to society on his birth anniversary. He stated, “Ram Manohar Lohia dedicated his life to the freedom movement, social reform, and the upliftment of the poor and marginalized. Committed to equality, education, and mother tongue, Lohia became an ideal of integrity in social life.”
Union Health Minister JP Nadda paid homage to Lohia, stating in a post on X, “The symbol of social justice, Dr. Lohia dedicated his entire life to empowering the marginalized and building a strong India. His ideas based on education, social equality, and political integrity are inspirational for all of us.”
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also paid tribute to Lohia, saying, “Your work for the service of the nation and the upliftment of the oppressed and marginalized will always inspire us towards social justice.”
Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, remarked, “His thoughts and struggles for social justice, equality, and public welfare serve as a guiding light for all of us.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also commemorated Lohia on his birth anniversary, stating, “Lohia lived the values of equality, social justice, and public participation and showed the way to ensure development reaches the last person. His thoughts continue to inspire us in building a strong, inclusive, and just India.”
Several Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states also remembered Ram Manohar Lohia on his birth anniversary. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, CM Rekha Gupta of Delhi, CM Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma of Rajasthan, CM Nayab Singh Saini of Haryana, and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand all paid their respects to Lohia.
