Congress Leader Udit Raj Criticizes Government for UPI Transaction Fees

New Delhi, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Udit Raj has sharply criticized the government’s decision to impose fees on UPI transactions, claiming it amounts to a “robbery” of the public’s finances. Speaking in New Delhi, Raj highlighted how the government previously encouraged citizens to adopt UPI for payments, only to now impose charges that he believes directly impact the wallets of ordinary people.

Raj pointed out that a fee will apply to UPI transactions exceeding ₹2,000, a threshold he noted encompasses a significant volume of transactions. He argued that this move is essentially a direct theft from the public.

The Congress leader further accused the government of already extracting money from citizens through high excise duties on petrol and diesel, along with GST. He asserted that the government is not working in the best interest of the common people.

On the topic of the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat‘s “Yuva Dharma Sansad” event, Raj remarked that the Gen-Z demographic does not organize itself spontaneously; rather, it is orchestrated by various affiliated organizations, including the BJP. He challenged the organizers to invite Gen-Z individuals to an open forum, suggesting that they would struggle to answer questions posed to them. In contrast, he noted that Rahul Gandhi engages directly with Gen-Z, fostering open dialogue.

Addressing actress Swara Bhasker’s comments regarding the Ram Temple, Raj dismissed the relevance of past statements, indicating that discussing them now holds little value.

When asked about the TMC’s situation, Raj drew parallels to the challenges faced by the NCP and Shiv Sena, suggesting a pattern of political maneuvering.

Raj also criticized the Election Commission, alleging it operates in favor of the BJP rather than as an impartial body. He claimed that violations of electoral rules are occurring in broad daylight, which he believes undermines democracy and silences the voice of the people.
