Congress Leader Supports Sharjeel Imam, Criticizes Judiciarys Injustice

Congress leader Udit Raj calls for a probe into controversial slogans at Jamia Millia Islamia and demands justice for Sharjeel Imam.

New Delhi, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : Udit Raj, a prominent Congress leader, recently addressed the controversial slogans seen on the walls of Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi, which included phrases like “Free Kashmir, Free Sharjeel Imam.” He urged the government to investigate the matter and hold the Vice Chancellor accountable. Raj emphasized that the investigation should involve the Intelligence Bureau and potentially the National Investigation Agency.

Speaking about Sharjeel Imam, Raj stated that he deserves bail, asserting that denying it is unjust. He expressed concern that Imam’s background is influencing the judicial process, lamenting that even the judiciary is failing to deliver justice.

Raj further alleged that the judiciary is under pressure from the government, claiming that both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister control the collegium system. He stressed that without the implementation of an All India Judicial Service, achieving justice through the judiciary would remain challenging.

Additionally, Raj commented on a recent directive from the Governor of Kerala regarding vegetarian-only meals at the Raj Bhavan. He criticized the decision, arguing that it disregards the dietary preferences of the majority of Indians, over 80% of whom consume non-vegetarian food.

On the topic of India’s territorial integrity, Raj responded to remarks made by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police regarding China’s actions. He acknowledged the bravery of the armed forces but accused the government of merely putting on a show rather than addressing the serious issues at hand. Raj called for transparency from the government regarding these matters.
