Mumbai, May 5: Political rhetoric has intensified following the assembly election results. Congress leader Hussain Dalwai made serious allegations against the BJP during an exclusive interview on Tuesday, claiming that election fraud occurred in Bengal with the help of the Election Commission.
Dalwai stated, “The BJP committed fraud in the elections. The Election Commission was assisting them. A voting rate of 93 percent in Bengal is simply not credible. There was an attempt to undermine the Muslim vote. They used the entire machinery of law and the commission to win the elections by any means necessary. Votes were stolen in Bengal. The Election Commission completely rigged the elections there. This is known to everyone.”
Regarding the Kerala election results, Dalwai remarked, “The people of Kerala are more aware and educated. The communists have done nothing. There was no room for fraud in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.” He also mentioned Assam, noting that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was previously a member of Congress.
On the need for self-reflection after Congress’s defeat, Dalwai supported Salman Khurshid’s comments, saying, “Rahul Gandhi is working hard, but the situation at the grassroots level is very poor. Salman Khurshid’s call for self-reflection is absolutely correct.”
Expressing confidence in Congress’s future, Dalwai asserted, “Talking about the end of Congress is mere rumor. Congress has strong voters. There is no question of the party’s demise. Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress will rise again. During Vajpayee’s time, Congress was not in power, but Sonia Gandhi strengthened the party. Now, Congress needs to focus on strengthening its organization.”
Commenting on Mamata Banerjee and Bengal, Dalwai acknowledged, “Mamata Banerjee made some mistakes. Earlier, Congress and CPM had significant influence there. They should have formed alliances thoughtfully. We became weak, which was exploited. It is crucial for Congress to work together with regional parties moving forward.”
Dalwai also called for unity among all opposition parties, urging them to consider how they can come together.
