BJP Expels Five Leaders in Alipurduar Following Internal Dispute
The BJP has expelled five leaders in Alipurduar for involvement in party-related violence and anti-party activities, escalating tensions within the party.

Alipurduar, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : In Alipurduar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken decisive action by expelling five leaders amid allegations of their involvement in violent incidents involving party workers. This decision follows a recent altercation in front of the Kamakhyaguri police station that has sparked considerable controversy.
Mithu Das, the president of the BJP’s Alipurduar unit, announced the expulsions during a press conference on Saturday. He stated that the leaders were removed due to violations of party discipline and their participation in anti-party activities.
The expelled members include district secretary Sunil Mahato, Kumargram No. 3 mandal general secretary Debesh Barman, and Kumargram No. 2 area convenor Dilip Pandey. Additionally, Rajesh Chettri, the president of the Kalchini No. 1 mandal, and district executive member Ratan Rai were also dismissed for similar allegations.
The incidents leading to these expulsions have created a charged atmosphere within the political landscape of Alipurduar. Reports suggest that internal factionalism and disagreements within the party have contributed to the unrest.
Following the violent incident, the district BJP leadership moved swiftly to identify the accused and take appropriate action. Mithu Das emphasized that any form of chaos or indiscipline at the party level would not be tolerated.
This decision is particularly significant as Samik Bhattacharya, the president of the state BJP unit, has consistently communicated that the party will not accept any form of intimidation or arrogance from the ruling party in West Bengal. He has assured that strict measures will be taken against such complaints, which led to the expulsion of the five officials in Alipurduar. As of now, the expelled leaders have not publicly responded to the accusations or the actions taken against them.
