Lucknow, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, has taken aim at the BJP government over a range of pressing issues. Speaking in Lucknow on September 14, he criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), comments by BJP leaders regarding madrasas, and the current state of India-China relations. Rai claimed that the government is diverting public attention from crucial topics like development and employment, particularly concerning border disputes with China.
Rai expressed skepticism about Shah’s announcements regarding the UCC, suggesting that past promises from BJP leaders have often turned out to be mere rhetoric. He believes the latest UCC declaration is part of an election strategy and asserted that the public is now well aware of political claims and will respond at the polls. He emphasized the need for the BJP to focus on the implementation of their promises rather than making grand declarations.
Addressing comments made by Dilip Ghosh about madrasas, Rai pointed out that BJP leaders tend to raise communal issues as elections approach. He urged the government to clarify how many jobs have been created and what tangible work has been done for the common people. Rai raised concerns about the quality of infrastructure, citing incidents related to bridges in Hamirpur and disruptions on the Lucknow-Kanpur expressway, accusing the government of prioritizing corporate interests over public welfare.
On the subject of India-China relations, Rai remarked that mere statements will not clarify the situation. He referenced the ongoing issues in Doklam and Arunachal Pradesh, insisting that the government must present the true state of affairs to the public. If there has indeed been progress in relations with China, the government should provide detailed information about critical issues and border conditions.
Regarding the Indian women’s cricket team’s Asia Cup victory and the ensuing controversy, Rai stated that the final decision on playing against Pakistan should rest with the central government, given the sensitive nature of the bilateral relationship. He called for a clear policy from the government on this matter.
In response to claims made in a podcast by Rajesh Pandey about the new CEO of the Ram Temple, Rai admitted he lacked full details but demanded accountability from those involved in the temple trust. He insisted that any allegations of corruption or bribery should be investigated, and legal action taken if proven.
Lastly, Rai commented on the BRICS summit, emphasizing that the public deserves to know the outcomes of decisions made during the conference. He questioned whether the Prime Minister has effectively addressed issues concerning India-China relations and called for transparency beyond just photographs and statements from the summit.
Defending Rahul Gandhi against BJP’s criticisms regarding his food preferences, Rai stated that dietary choices should not be politicized. He highlighted India’s diverse culinary traditions and the importance of individual freedom in food choices.
