Shimla, March 24: Pratibha Singh, former president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress and ex-MP, has shared insights on her government’s achievements and the promises made during the last elections. She also accused the central government of discriminating against Himachal Pradesh.
In a recent conversation, Singh stated, “Before the Congress government took charge in 2022, the BJP was in power. They had no significant achievements. The BJP did not undertake any initiatives that could resonate with the public. The best part for Congress was that we highlighted the work and words of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh during our campaign. People voted as a tribute to him, especially since he had passed away by then. They compared the previous BJP government with Virbhadra Singh’s contributions and elected Congress in 2022.”
Singh emphasized, “Himachal Pradesh is a small state with numerous challenges. Any manifesto created here is based on the needs and issues of the people. As soon as Congress formed the government, we reinstated the old pension scheme. We also promised a minimum support price for milk and provided 300 units of free electricity. Additionally, we fulfilled our commitment to give ₹1,500 to women. We are also addressing areas that were previously overlooked. Regarding other promises, the government is actively working on them.”
She further accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of neglecting the issues faced by Himachal Pradesh. Singh remarked, “During the elections, the Prime Minister claimed he was a son of Himachal and that it was his second home. He assured us he would do everything possible for the state. However, after Congress came to power, when I approached him regarding the state’s problems, my concerns were ignored.”
